I would say what you have heard about getting married here is about right, it is very difficult for non-residents but there are lots of blessings. This lady who is in the south of the island http://www.weddingcelebranttenerife.com is supposedly very good. I have seen her advertise but having been married as long as I have had no need for her services LOL. I am sure she will be able to answer all your questions.

Hi, I don't understand why you can't get married in Tenerife. Many couples get married on holiday, why not Tenerife?

Spanish non-residents can have a Church Wedding if they are practicing Catholics and can cope with teh copious paperwork and prove Baptism, Confirmation etc.

Civil Weddings are only legal if at least one of the couple is a long term Spanish resident. Therefore most couples have a Register Office Wedding in teh UK (or Gibraltar on the mainland) followed by a Blessing ceremony. It will be made clear at the ceremony that it is not a legally binding service.

You better contact the British consulate for right info

Tel: 902 109 356 (if you are in Spain)

Tel: (+34) 91 334 2194 (if you are in Uk)

Fax: (+34) 922 28 99 03

I know at Costa Adeje gran Hotel British people got married but I'm not sure if they were resident, on the other hand I know there are agencies in Uk specialiced in organicing weddings abroad

we are thinking to get married and costa adeje tenerife would be great however our situation is as follows:

I am a Catholic (but non practicing) but do have all the relevant to prove confirmation, baptism and so on. My partner however is a divorcee therefore would it still be possible to get married in tenerife???

To get married here at least one of you has to have lived in Spain for a minimum of two years. If you have, then you will need a mountain of paperwork and any documents that are not in Spanish have to be legalised with a Hague apostille certification.

By far the easiest way is to get married elsewhere and have a ceremony here. There are people who specialise in this, like Claire who is a wedding celebrant http://www.weddingcelebranttenerife.com/

A member of this forum, Onelegnofeet’s daughter had her wedding ceremony was on a catamaran. I am sure he would be happy to give you information on how it was arranged.
