Santa Cruz La Palma Beach

We will be in Santa Cruz on a cruise ship and would like to go to the beach. Can anyone suggest beaches to go to either by walking on taking public transportation? Where do catch the bus? Thanks.

According to "publicity" found when we went there are two beach resorts on the island of La Palma, one on the east coast, south of Santa Cruz at Los Cancajos, and on the west coast at Puerto Naos. Santa Cruz isn't a big place and all {I think, but at least most} go from one place. It is at one end {to the left if the sea is to your back} of the pedestrianised shopping street.

A decent bus service but be careful of timings as a lot are every couple of hours. You can also get a taxi and you'll see "fixed prices" advertised.

Hi Terrier,

You can walk from the cruise ship to the beach of 'Bajamar' which is at the south end of Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Where the cruise ships dock, you will see the large town roundabout - head off with the sea on your left, away from the town, and you will arrive at Bajamar beach in 10 minutes. It's a nice flat walk along a broad pavement, so you can really stretch your legs.

The beach is good with safe swimming plus there are toilets, beach showers and a bar.

Alternatively, take the taxi to Los Cancajos which is less than a 10 minute drive away. Or you can take the bus which runs every 30 minutes and costs 1.30€.

I think it might be worth you heading off to Los Cancajos as the beach is a little nicer - in fact there are three beaches there. There are also many bars and it's a good place to get a bit to eat if you wish.

However, if you wish to stay near the boat and also have an explore of the beautiful and historic Santa Cruz - maybe buy some embroidery - plus go to the beach, then maybe go to Bajamar.

Odd one that? Posts 2 & 3 identical but one from a first poster and the other from the DE. Gremlins in the TA system?
