Beaches Like on Grand Canary?

Looking at a great deal on a hotel on Grand Canary. Never been. Wondering what are the beaches like? My daughters, 15/16 years, prefer sandy beaches. Is there snorkeling? Which beaches do you prefer? Will it be too hot in mid-August? What are temps like then? Any input you can provide is greatly appreciated.

There are great beaches all around the island ... one of the biggest is maspalomas beach ,which is sand as are many others ;-

It can be very hot sometimes but it is a dry heat here and not humid it is not normally as hot in the summer as the Spanish mainland - lots of Spanish come to GC to get away from the heat of the mainland in August. It is normally around to 30c and upwards in August - the climate is the world best in GC

Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, was ranked as the city with the best climate in the world in a 1996 scientific study called ‘Pleasant Weather Ratings’, by Thomas Whitmore, director of research on climatology at Syracuse University, New York.

Always make sure you research well where you are staying here as what one family likes another may not. Make sure if you find a good deal for a a holiday the area is right for your family.

if any of your family want to go snorkeling maybe also contact davy jones diving for the best places to snorkel in Gran Canaria :-
