We just posted this review of the RIU La Mola.
This is a late review from the middle of September 2012. My husband and I had a fantastic time and maybe the best vacation we have had together without the kids since our honeymoon. Formentera is a special place!
We rented motor scooters from RIU and used them to get to various spots along Migjorn, Es Calo and others. Seaside restaurants like The Blue Bar, La Fragata, and 10.7 are perfect for getting a seafood lunch and beer as the RIU is "half board."
One of the most photographed parts of the island is Calo d'es Mort and it is a 5-10 min walk just to the left (facing the ocean) of the RIU. Great beach cove surrounded by cliffs to sun yourself, swim, and snorkel.
We didn't happen to see or hear an American at the RIU or on Formentera. (Lots of Americans on Ibiza) Most of the clientele seemed to be Italian, Spanish and German. We really liked this! Just wanted to let Ameicans know that it is not exactly like going to a RIU in Mexico or the Caribbean.
The hotel was perfect for us. It is comparable in quality to other RIUs or other AI type resorts but much smaller. Its location and the ease of getting a good breakfast and dinner while on a fantastic island allowed for us to have a wonderful time.
