Back to where we met - Ibiza Wedding!!! :)

Hi everyone!!

I just got engaged last weekend but I am already planning my wedding as I would like to get married in Ibiza next year, probably end of September 2014. I have been looking at Ca's Mila and Sa Punta, both of which look beautiful on the websites! I have also been looking at Hacienda na Xamena, because I love the look of the amphitheatre for the ceremony and the panoramic terrace around the dining room. But it was expensive at 150euro a head - do you know can these prices be negotiated much? Can anyone make any recommendations as regards these or other venues? We think we will have about 70 - 100 guests but we would still like to keep the cost of the reception below 10000euro (at the very max). Is this possible? Prices seem very expensive so far! (One silver wedding package was 179euro a head!!) I want to keep things quite simple - I only want people to have a good time - so drinks, music and good food at a venue which is beside or overlooking the water? We are an English/Irish mix wedding, with the vast majority Irish so we will want a late night party!! :)

I also need recommendations for places for ourselves and my guests to stay - preferrably a hotel for us because my mum reckons that she would end up cleaning a villa and it wouldnt be a holiday for her!! :) Again, nothing too expensive but with a nice pool and on the coast with some life about it!

Can you also advise me of what the weather is really like around this time? Most websites say 17 - 24C, which sounds ok, but it may seem quite cool when we are there?

Any input whatsoever is much appreciated!!

Many thanks

Emma

First off congrats on your engagement. End of september start of october is a good time for a wedding in Ibiza. May has not been so good the few years and it seems october and november are getting better for weather. Strictly no music allowed outside any venue after midnight. You can continue to have music inside but turned down low and at a level not to disturb the neighbours. The majority of places will kick you out at 2am. Disturbing the peace of neighbours is a huge issue in Ibiza when it comes to late night parties and weddings. Most villa owners wont risk holding weddings that are loud because it will cause trouble for them. At that time of year it is quiet possible to negotiate on price. Pm me for any other q's as its a long list you have....

We always go out last two weeks in September, I would call it hot not warm, usually mid to late 20's, certainly short sleeved shirts 24/7. cant remember when I last wore a jumper at this time. Once you pass mid September there is a risk of heavy rain showers, we have had heavy rain showers in this period 8 of the last 10 years, last year we had storms at the end of the month.

Last 10 years have been worse then the previous 20 for rain on average.

Thank you both for your replies!!

Danny, thankyou!! I'm really happy!! It was a real surprise!! :) Thanks for your offer to PM!! I will probably take you up on that if you don't mind!! I've read this before about the 12pm lock out - this kind of puts a dampener on things - do you know if any of the places I mentioned can have the DJ inside and a soundsystem which covers both in and outside? This way, we could switch off the speakers outside at 12 and (hopefully) continue the party inside until 2am? Also, do you know if a place is more secluded, are they likely to be a little bit more relaxed about this rule?

I've been looking at the Palladium Palace and the Insotel Thalasso Spa for ourselves and our families to stay - is there any of these that you would sway more towards? Or even, would you have a better suggestion?

Ian, I'm happy to hear you say 'hot not warm'!! Even though I am a redhead and have to be very careful - I love the sun!! I don't love the sound of the rain!! But I suppose I have to take my chances and roll with the punches!! (One place we've looked at charges something like 1000euro for a full cover for all guests - this is another reason why I'm so drawn to Hacienda na Xamena - it looks to be covered but open on the sides with a panoramic terrace so the best of both worlds!! :) )

Thanks again guys!!

The more secluded a place is in Ibiza, the bigger the problem with noise. Neighbours in quiet areas respect and appreciate the peace and quiet. A mobile phone ring can disturb it if you have temperamental neighbours. Talk to BeesWax on here hes a DJ who can advise you on wedding sound issues. Of the hotels you mention......not my cup of tea either of them, You find those type of hotels anywhere in the world.

Hi Emma,

The Hacienda is a great choice if you can stretch to it, and it's not as expensive as it seems, because they include things like drinks, decoration and flowers in their 'per head' cost, whereas some places only include food. Also, it's one of very few places where you can party until 3 or 4am.

There are plenty of villas where you can go to 2am and beyond, but sadly not within your budget.

I had clients last week in one where you can go beyond midnight though and it was very reasonable; I think under €3000 for the week; and they were well under €10k overall.

For your budget, my first choice would be El Chiringuito at Cala Gracioneta - speak to Lucy there for more info.....

Hi Emma,

Congrats on your engagement! I got married in Ibiza in June last year - it's an amazing place to get married!

We were also an English/Irish mix wedding, looking for somewhere to have a great wedding party!

We had our reception at Can Gall Hotel (we got married in San Carlos Church) and stayed there for 3 days too. I couldn't recommend anywhere more, it was perfect and the owners are really lovely and helpful. I wrote a full review on Can Gall if you want to read more:

http://www.youmeantheworldtome.co.uk/real-bride-review-can-gall-agroturismo-hotel-ibiza/

I have also written a guide to getting married in Ibiza, if you want any further advice, contacts, ideas etc:

http://www.youmeantheworldtome.co.uk/destination-wedding-guide-get-married-in-ibiza/

I got married at the end of June and the weather was amazing, over 30degrees every day. I have also been in Ibiza at the end of October before and it was still mid 20's, so I would say the end of September will be fine. At the worst you might get some cloud or a chance of a very brief rain shower. At Can Gall Hotel where we got married they have a gorgeous outdoor pagoda that your wedding breakfast tables can be set up under, which would be good if it looked like the weather was a little unsettled on your day.

I hope I've been of some help.

Good luck with your planning and enjoy your White Isle wedding! x

I haven't been on here in a while - been so busy for the start of summer! But I'm back to planning again! We have booked to visit Ibiza on the 17th October but only for 3 nights - so we hope to have lots of meetings and make a decision and at the very least, have a venue booked by the time we get home!

Beeswax, we are certainly going to visit Hacienda to see if we love it as much as we do in the photos and if we do - hopefully we can strike some sort of a deal with them.....although I'm really not sure about the leeway venues in Ibiza have with these sort of things? I have also contact El Chiringuito and had some replies from Olivia there, although my boyfriend absolutely hates fish so I'm not sure if the venue will suit him or not - unless they can put on a big steak for him!! lol!!

Jemma, thankyou so much for the info! I have always thought that I wanted my wedding to be close to the water - but your review of Can Gall definately makes me think I should be more open to other venues! I am definately going to at least go and have a look! You seem to really emphasize the 'customer service' part of it - which is actually turning out to be really important!! I have seen that some venues can be absolutely stunning but the lack of communiction really puts me off - I'm talking a month and a half to reply to emails? I know it is high season and so they are all probably really busy plus the fact that the Spanish do have a laid back nature (which is absolutely a good thing and exactly the atmosphere I'm after!) - I'm just hoping that this is the only reason for the delays?

Does anyone have any views on Cas Mila? Again, it looks stunning in the photos and its definately somewhere we'd like to have a look at!

Hi Emma,

How are you? Congrats and how exciting!

I have also just got engaged (in Mallorca) and I am beginning to plan my Ibiza wedding for June 2015. My fiance and I are based in Australia, so we visited as many venues as we could over a couple of days when in Ibiza last week.

Firstly, if you're looking for a villa for you and the bridal party to stay in, check out - http://villasinibiza.com/default.aspx?go=Villa&PrID=163. It's absolutely gorgeous and quite reasonably priced - we go every year with all of our friends! And you can tell you mum that they send cleaners half way through the week :-)

I visited Cas Mila and it was very nice. The views are gorgeous and I'm definitely considering it for our wedding. My only concern is the lack of privacy - you need a minimum of 90 guests for exclusive use of the restaurant (which we'll definitely pay for, even if we have fewer guests). Ibiza Wedding Shop offers an amazing wedding package deal and they're a really friendly bunch. The restaurant is pretty basic but with the right decoration it could be gorgeous.

However, I've also been exploring more higher-end options. Have you heard of Experimental Beach Club? It was by far my absolute favourite! You can also continue the party until 2am here. The question is can my budget stretch that far?! I also loved Elixir which has beautiful views of Es Vedra.

Sa Punta was in our top three but the owners has been unresponsive since our visit which is a bit off-putting. He's yet to email us a price list so we will probably leave that one.

Please keep in touch as I'd love to hear your thought after your visit. My email is sophiewakefield@hotmail.co.uk.

Good luck!

Sophie x
