We are going to fly to Malaga and then take the train to Seville.

Have you done this ? Any advice?

We will buy tarjeta dorada , do you know if we get that discount and the 20% return ticket discount ?

Only one discount is possible with the tickets, choose either one or the other.

The Avant train travles on the AVE high speed line, the MD train is slower by half and hour but is a lot cheaper so if you are no great hurry, take the MD.

How much slower is the MD train? We also plan to take a train from Malaga to Seville in early June. We need to be in Seville at a reasonable hour (I'm not really sure what that means in Spain, but I'm assuming between lunch and dusk?) to get the keys and pay for our apartment rental.

It will probably be our first day in Spain, so it might be nice to see some scenery and chill for a while on the train. And save some money... Or is it worth it to take the faster train?

Also, can you take food on the train? Or - are there places to eat/get food at the train station in Malaga? I'm sure we'll be hungry then.

Thanks. (sorry to usurp your thread, Leena-A).

bianca,

'How much slower is the MD train?' - see the schedules - www.renfe.com

'can you take food on the train?' - yes.

There is shopping centre in the immediate vicinity of the train station, a number of the outlets are eateries.

MD Train from Malaga to Seville is about 2.40 min.. The cost is under E20.00 one way... I have usually got the 14.08 out of Malaga ..mid afternoon ..usually quiet time so lots of empty seats..If you can try to bag the left hand side of the coach (in dir your travelling) which will give you views of a big gorge about 30 min out of Malaga

(I think it`s called El Curro)..

You`ll know when your in Seville province ..The land starts to get really flat and lot`s of fields full of very fierce looking bulls!!!! LOL

Enjoy Seville

Thank you so much, IamboDundalk. Really? - re: the bulls? If so, wonder if these are the bulls they raise for bullfighting? I've heard of that gorge, too; thanks for the tip!
