Anybody been to the summer shows at Alhambra - Generalife ?

I am looking at the programme for this summer starting on 23rd July and lasting until end of August with a few exceptions. The show is called "Lorca y Granada" and for anybody wanting some entertainment at 10pm up on the higher part of the Generalife complex at the purpose built open air theatre then it must be quite interesting. There is more information on this:

I went once. It is an absolutely fantastic location in the open air with the pleasant dry heat that you get in Granada.

Granada is too hot in July and August and during the hottest part of the day it is a good idea to have a long siesta. This will give you energy for staying up late at night when the temperature is much more pleasant.

If you are in the Albayzin you can hear the concerts quite clearly if the breeze is in the right direction.

If you are in Granada at this time it would be a hightly recommended activity.

I've been to two of them - Poeta en Nueva York and Romancero Gitano. They involved a mix of Flamenco (music/dance), modern dance, Lorca's poetry and other styles of music. They're very professional, usually with at least one big name (to Spanish people). The location is special, as Steven says, but it can even get a bit chilly, so bring a jumper or coat. Here's a clip from one of the performances: …wordpress.com/2008/…
