No Marriotts or Hiltons, no chain hotels, but homely one of a kind hotels run by 'real' people and not big businesses?

Here are a few I like the look of, though I've not stayed in any of them. There are plenty reviews to read and I'm sure you can find more yourself on the hotel page. Check prices on other websites, as TA prices are not always very reliable.

Always check location too, as many hotels advertised for Marbella, are actually miles out of town.

Depending on your budget either of these two would fit the bill.

nv,

The most charming boutique hotel in Marbella must be LA VILLA MARBELLA! Marcos manages this hotel, situated just minutes from historic Patio de los Naranjos. Each room is designed by Marco's lovely wife and filled with Asian themed antiques. I like to call it 'my home in Marbella'. Our room 'Cherating', if I remember correctly, had its own sitting room, sun-filled washroom and deck with private jacuzzi.

La Villa Marbella certainly looks like a beautiful place but I've a feeling it will be outside the budget of a lot of people. Although NV hasn't given a budget the price I found on line for 2 nights was over £300! No way we could afford anything like that but as I say it does look lovely and would be great for a special treat.

La Villa Marbella is showing on several booking websites at £90/night, double room incl breakfast.

Maybe it's time to treat yourself, Ceejay!

That's a better price, actually had a look again and the price I found was for a junior suite!

heidotheroad,

Thanks for checking several booking sites re: La Villa Marbella. I found my confirmation info for our late June visit. 139 euros including a delicious b'fast on the patio. I think that's a great deal, compared to what I'd get for 139 euros in Barcelona!

In case nv103 really wants to splurge, I suggest dinner at Calima. Don't bother to check, Ceejay. Calima is definitely outside your budget. :-)
