Restaurant with views

A special brithday with my husband. We would like a restaurant with

views of the marina or sea. We have not been to Malaga before, so any suggestions

would be appreciated. We are staying in the centre of Malaga.

How about this one? http://www.restaurantemr1.com/

We went there for my birthday a few years ago and sat out on the terrace. It was very nice!

Hayes:

1. Restaurante Real Club Mediterraneo de Malaga

Paseo de La Farola, 18

Tel: 952-601-988

Web: http://www.restauranteclubmediterraneo.com/

The restaurant is open 7 days a week. Lunch is served at 1:30 pm and dinner at 9:00 pm.

The Real Club Mediterraneo is a very private club by the Farola (lighthouse) at the port of Malaga. The members of this exclusive club are the cream of Malaga society and it is very expensive to join the club. However the restaurant in the club is open to the public and anyone can have a meal at this very good restaurant. The ambiance is terrific and the restaurant has huge picture windows with some of the best views of the city, such as the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, Gibralfaro, Malagueta Beach, and the gardens and three pools of the club. The decoration is sophisticated and the food is very good. The prices are moderate and the service is very friendly and efficient. The a la carte menu has a very wide variety of Spanish food.

2. Lounge Bar Plaza

Muelle 1, Local 54

Tel: 952-213-514

Hours: 9 am to 2 am

Web: http://www.loungebarplaza.com/index.php/es/

The Lounge Bar Plaza is an elegant restaurant at Muelle 1. The restaurant decoration is in white and black. The chairs are white, the tablecloths are black, the floor is black, and at one corner there is a white piano. The menu is traditional Malagueño and the prices are very moderate. The ensalada mixta (vegetable salad) is very well prepared and costs 5.50 euros. The rosada a la plancha (rock cod) includes vegetables and costs 10 euros. The pulpo a la Gallega (octopus with boiled potatoes and paprika) is excellent and costs 13.80 euros. The service is friendly and efficient. A very good thing about this restaurant is that you can order any food from the menu from 9:30 am to 2 am and it will be fixed immediately. This is good for tourists who are accustomed to have lunch and dinner at different hours from the Spanish, who eat later. So you can have a meal at any time between those hours. There are very few restaurants in Malaga where you can eat at any time. There is a pianist on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, which gives the restaurant atmosphere. Also one has a very good view of the port and there are many tables outside on the terrace, great for days with good weather.

MR1 certainly has nice views, although food is not up to par in my opinion.

The restaurant at the Parador de Gibralfaro has arguably the best views over the city, and certainly is a very romantic place, although the food is not outstanding (but good enough though).

El Recectorio de Ignacio (Paseo de la Sierra 36, Cerrado de Cálderon, 39013 Málaga - Phone +34 95 220 3935) has some great local food (it is owned by one of the most long standing restaurateurs in the city) and views are gorgeous, specially if you go with good weather and the terrace is open.

Restaurant Amador, located on the Hotel Villa Guadalupe in the western district of Puerto de La Torre serves outstanding modern cuisine with again some of the best views over the western part of the city (not the city centre though that you would get from the two above).

All this places are a bit out of the way (you have to climb up the hills to have good views!). They can be reached by bus though with a little bit of planning.

Have fun.
