Driving to Spain with a Dog

We are thinking of driving to Estepona in Southern Spain for the first time in April, via Eurotunnel.

We have a small dog who doesn't require a lot of exercise and estimate 2 overnight stops will be sufficient.

So I guess one stop in central France and another in northern Spain to break up the journey.

Does anyone have any recommended pet friendly hotels please?

For france have a look at the logis site

http://www.logishotels.com/en/map-search.html

They are good travel hotels and the info tells you wether dogs are welcome even if you can take them in the restaurant. French love dogs.

Presume you will come straight down on past Clermont Ferr. so I assume first night will be auvergne area. I usually make my overnight near Garabit or St Flour.

i go to Peniscola 80 miles north of Valencia and would have thought 2 overnights was tight but it can be done if you love driving. The AP7 runs the length of Spain Not too many logis in Spain but the one between Peniscola and Valencia near Castellon takes dogs

Thank you. My wife and I will share the driving, do you still think 2 stops is a bit tight?

I drive to Peniscola on a regular basis . One stop as mentioned, no shared driver but hey are long days. I' m always pleased to get there and wouldn't fancy another day.

Depends on how you feel about long drives and how long you are staying in the south and if you can spare an extra day each way I suppose.
