Psg1974:

I do not think there is much difference in weather between the different islands. When they show the weather forecast on TV, all of the islands are lumped into one. The islands are near each other and any weather front that comes will affect all of them.

For Fuerteventura, according to statistics the south of the island is generally slightly warmer than the north by approximately 4 degrees.

@Benny, actually, the different islands do have different climates, even different areas of the bigger islands. A forecast grouping all the islands together will be very inaccurate, as grouping all Andalucia or any other region together.

@psg1974: the Western islands: La Palma (esp. its North side, its South part is dry), Gomera, El Hierro and the North part of Tenerife and Gran Canaria receive the humid winds from the ocean. These are trapped by the mountains, creating the "sea of clouds" phenomenon. These areas are very green, with semi-tropical forests, wonderful for hiking, but not so great if you are after a holiday in the sun.

On the other hand, the south part of Tenerife and Gran Canaria and the Eastern islands (Fuerteventura, Lanzarote), with less mountains (or protected by the mountains in the North) and more exposed to the dry winds from the Sahara, are dry and sunny.

Generally speaking, the greener areas (ans some parts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) are preferred by Spanish tourists and those looking for nature, hiking, relax... in my opinion a more authentic Canarian experience away from the mass tourism. The dryer areas are better for sun-seekers but a lot more touristy (this may be a big plus or a big con). So, really, the best area really depends on your interests,

Have fun!
