Question for "abalada"

Does the S-Bahn train from Warnemunde to Rostock use the same loco pulled/pushed trains with Dostos (double decker cars) that the Regional Express train from Rostock to Bad Kleinen uses? From your picture, it looks quite similar.

1. Re: Question for "abalada"

I drove last december from Warnemünde to Rostock, but I am not pretty sure if it was a double decker.

But anyway the "DeutscheBahn" uses Trains depending on the requirements and availlability so its not sure that there is a double decker on your Train-line.

The S-Bahn Rostock uses indeed Dostos.

Albeit they are actually not optimal for an S-Bahn system (few doors per car, rather low acceleration).

But unlikely that these are exactly the same type of Dostos. There are plenty of variants.

There are also other trains than the S-Bahn train from Warnemünde to Rostock. S-Bahn systems have normally a stable pool of trains they use. With regional trains this depends. If the route was won by a tender the railway company has to guarantee normally a certain standard. Here again the train pool is rather stable. With other lines there are more variants possible. But this has also a technical aspect. The railroad from Rostock to Bad Kleinen is e.g. electrified. The railroad from Bad Kleinen to Lübeck not.

One more question. I saw a photograph of one of the double decker cars on the Warnemunde to Rostock route. It had a large number "2" on the side. I would imagine that this means it is a SECOND CLASS double decker car?

(with extra space for bicycles)

a Dosto with top floor 1st class and lower floor 2nd class (and a SnackPoint)

1st class is additionally marked by a yellow stripe above or below the windows.
