Mainz transportation pass

Mmy friend and I (2 people) plan to travel along Rhine river and stay at Mainz. Please help asnwer my question

1. Does the Rhineland Pfalz ticket cover tram and bus in Mainz city?

2. If I plan to visit only Bacharach, Bingen, Wisebaden, Rudesheim. Can I buy RMV mni group ticket rather than Rhineland Pfalz ticket? If yes how much does it cost for RMV mini group.

3. Does RMV ticket apply for 9 am pass?

Thank you

1. Yes.

2. No. Bacharach and Bingen are outside the RMV area. For Wiesbaden and Rüdesheim you could buy a group-day-ticket from Mainz for 16,60 EUR. But you must travel via Wiesbaden then! (On the other hand: even though Wiesbaden an Rüdesheim are in Hessia the Rheinland-Pfalz-ticket covers both.)

3. No, group-day-tickets don't have time-restrictions.

So the better choice to travel all mentioned cities is Rhineland Pfalz ticket, right?

If you plan to visit these places on one day - yes.

Otherwise:

Mainz and Wiesbaden form a single RMV tariff zone

Mainz - Rüdesheim: RMV tariff

Mainz - Bingen - Bacharach: RNN tariff

rnn.info/plaene-und-downloads/verbundgebiet.…

The ferry Bingen-Rüdesheim is not part of either tariff. And thus not covered by a Rheinland-Pfalz Ticket either.

Covered is the St. Goar - St. Goarshausen ferry. Which has the advantage of short ways between the train stations and ferry piers. And that this "extension" would include the most scenic part of the Middle Rhine Valley.

Mainz - Bingen - Bacharach - St. Goar - St. Goarshausen - Rüdesheim - Wiesbaden - Mainz.

RMV and RNN mini group day tickets have no "from 9am only" restriction on weekdays.

Rhineland-Pfalz Ticket has.
