Places to stay outside Prenzlau

I'm going to Germany to trace some of my ancestry in Prussia. I have family from Schmolln and Brussow, but cannot find any info on these two places (east of Prenzlau close to Poland border). Are they so small that they're not worth visiting? Are there any places to stay in these towns or nearby? Would Pasewalk be a better place to stay? Are there cemetries nearby also?

My maiden name is Schloss. I'm also trying to trace anything on Johanis Wilhelm Meckelburg (1880's) (also from Prussia, but have reached a dead end). Does anyone know how to get access to archives of this area?

Brüssow has 2.350 inhabitant. But also town rights.

The village Schmölln belongs to the community Randowtal.

Click on the "NATUR|REICH KARTE" in the right column.

You see Prenzlau at the top. Now move with the arrows that you can see the part north of Prenzlau. Than you can spot Brüssow at the northern end of this area. Now zoom into the map. If you go straight eastwards (right) from Prenzlau and southwards (down) from Brüssow you find Schmölln at the cross point.

Schloss (= castle) without nothing else? I know places named "Schloss XY".

Thanks for that!

I'll need to get my German friend to translate it, but it all looks very helpful.
