Brugge, Brussels and Germany

After spending 8 days on a London tour in June, three of us will extend our stay by 5-6 days. We will travel to Brugge, Belgium to visit family for about 3 days and have also been invited to visit friends one hour from Frankfurt (Braunfels). I need to choose our return airport and don't know if we are trying to do too much. We can either depart from Brussels or Frankfurt. I don't want to spend all of our time traveling but would like to show my niece and sister a little of Germany. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

If you are an hour from Frankfurt, I would return from Frankfurt. I hour from the airport, is the charming town of Heidelberg. Easy rail to airport. Mainz would be another choice for a day visit.

Thank you. We would visit friends in Braunfels and there are great little areas around there.

From Braunfels take the B-456 south east to the Autobahn A-5 which has an exit to the FRA airport (via the A-3). It is less than 100km. Depending on your schedule,aAs queeni_traveller mentuons, Heidelberg is about an hour south of the airport. There is a Heidelberg exit from the A-5.
