Short layovers in Frankfurt Airport

Hello,

We will have a 7 hour and 11 hour layover at the Frankfurt Airport (International) between two long flights. Was looking for a recommendation of the three hotels directly in Terminal 1 (the two Hilton Airport Hotels and the Sheraton). We have a family of four so we have two get two rooms with Hilton or a family room at the Sheraton. Any recommendations of one over another? Would you recommend a club room. Also, if our bags are checked through and we have boarding passes for our flights, how much time should we give to get from the terminal to the gate (through security and immigration)? May try to go downtown Frankfurt for a bit. Any recommendations for a good breakfast or lunch place near where the train would drop of in Frankfurt?

That will be expensive, getting 2 rooms at any of those 3 hotels. For a 7 hour layover I wouldn't bother at all. You can take showers at the airport if that is desired. For the 11 hour layover, then a room might make sense.

If you are planning on coming into town anyway, why not get a budget room in one of the hotels near the train station. Half the price, and you are only 11 min. away from the airport. The Hilton is at least a 10 min. walk away from the check-in counters by itself. They don't really offer day rooms either. In that amount of time, you could be in Frankfurt. Trains run every 15 min.

Try Hotel Excelsior or Hotel Monopol for budget rooms.

What are your dates? If it is soon, there may be a fest in town and you can eat there, or one of the many farmers markets that are held downtown. The whole center of town is a short, 15 min. walk from the train station, or you can use your group day ticket that you will have purchased to come into the city, to ride the trams to the Römer or the S-bahn to the Hauptwache area.
