From Frankfurt to Berlin changing trains in Hamburg?

Who sold you that connection? There are direct trains between the two cities. Going via Hamburg means a huge detour.

Under normal conditions this would be enough. However, due to the aftereffects of the recent floods and re-routings, please check your connections and timetables.

And please recheck if there is really no direct train. The usual direct routes do not go via Hannover. There is a deviation on the main route because of flood damage - from Braunschweig trains go via Magdeburg which means an hour or so delay, but the Southern route via Erfurt and Leipzig is not affected.

I don't know when the OP will travel, but there are usually several direct trains a day.

Just checked yesterday, there are also connections via Fulda, Leipzig etc. didn't find a single one via Hanover. Something strange going on there ...
