Strasbourg to Frankfurt airport, is bus best?

My daughter is doing a semester abroad in Strasbourg and we are trying to book her return trip. Singapore Airlines has a cheap nonstop from Frankfurt to JFK (with free 2nd bag!) but it's an early morning flight (8am). She has been told that there is a bus run by Lufthanza, which is the most convenient, but it looks like she'd probably have to take the last bus out in the evening the day before and just hang out at the airport overnight. Any info/suggestions about the bus or alternatives and about safety and comfort at the Frankfurt airport overnight for a 20yr old college student? If she can't check her bags in early, is there any type of luggage storage at Frankfurt? Thank you.

It would be easiest if she would just come to Frankfurt the day before her flight and spend the night at a budget hotel or hostel in the city. The trains out to the airport from Frankfurt city center only take 11 min. and begin running at 04:15. This is better than spending the night at the airport.

There is luggage storage at the airport, but they charge 7 euro per bag, for up to 24 hours.

For a close-by budget hotel, try Hotel Excelsior, or for a hostel, Frankfurt Hostel.

Thanks for the quick reply. She may decide to spend the day in Frankfurt, but she's a little worried about getting around town with all of her luggage, that's why she's thinking the bus from Strasbourg directly to the airport might be the easiest to deal with. At 7 euros/bag it may be worth it for her to arrive early, store the luggage and then head into the city center It's good to know that's an easy train ride.

This will be at the end of her 6 months so I'm figuring traveling by herself is the worst case scenario - it's always possible that she is able to travel with a friend, which would make it easier.

Do you know any specifics about that bus trip? (Lufthanza shuttle?)

There are 3 hotels right at the Frankfurt airport which would be most convenient. Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton and Sheraton - use hotel points and you'll have less worries than risking all the last minute travel. Its not a terribly long drive from Strasbourg to the Frankfurt airport - 3hours - pay a friend gas and go in the afternoon or take a regular bus - she will get student rates.
