castles near Frankfurt

I am looking for some advise on a castle recommendation in the Frankfurt area. I will be Trier the day before and would love to find something on the way (or not too far out of the way) to Frankfurt. I was looking at Burg Eltz but it does not appear to be open in February - which is when I will be there.

I also recommend the Masksburg. It has shorter hours in the winter, so be sure to arrive early in the day. The views from the terrace and inside the walls up and down the Rhein are fabulous (assuming a clear day). Look for the little tram that will take you to the foot of the castle for a small fee--there is a footpath up a steep incline, which I have taken several times, but not in Feb., when it would be slippery if very wet.
