I have read several WC-related threads concerning travel and you seem very very helpful. I would like to hear your thoughts on the most economical way to travel in my case.

I was lucky enough to secure a hotel in Munich but will be visiting Stuttgart and Nuremberg during my stay for WC games.

I will definitely take the train but there seems to be quite a few options and I read somewhere that our WC tickets actually give us free transportation during the game day.

Any thoughts you might have is greatly appreciated. Cheers,

-Phil

Only in the local public transport networks in and around the venue cities. Not between the venue cities (with one exception: Gelsenkirchen to Dortmund).

Munich: MVV

Stuttgart: VVS

Nuremberg: VGN

For Munich to Stuttgart/Nuremberg

a) on which weekdays?

b) are you travelling alone or with others?

c) do you plan any other longer trips inside Germany?

Thanks for the speedy reply!

I will be with my dad so 2 people total throughout the trip.

Stuttgart will be the 19th - a Monday

Nuremberg will be the 22nd - a Thursday

In between I will be in Munich with one game on the 21st.

I believe there is enough to see between all three cities as I am only going to stay for about a week at the max.

Thanks again!

to Stuttgart and Nuremberg

bahn.de/p/…eng_weltmeister_ticket.shtml

alternative to Nuremberg if travelling with local trains

Bavaria-Ticket EUR 25,00 (valid for 2-5 persons)

- on Mo-Fr only past 9am

- only local trains (~ 2:40 by RE compared to 1:20 by ICE)

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Munich

To: Stuttgart

To: Nuremberg

or for the lazy ones

From: M

To: S

To: N

If you plan to use the Bavaria-Ticket select as means of transport "only local transport".

You can also query for connections to the stadiums - but there will be additional services. Gives you an idea about travel time, but you cannot expect that the schedule will be exactly like displayed.

To: Munich Allianz Arena

To: Nuremberg Frankenstadion

To: Stuttgart Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion
