yes and yes

There is a tram for the airport to the city centre (I seem to remember it took about 30 minutes or something like that). The tram drops you off at the train station, there will be a mini Xmas market just in front of it for your first mulled wine, and then you can walk into the city centre (10 minutes into the opposite direction, all signposted) and the market will be everywhere! It is really nice and there are plenty of things to do, buy and eat!

hi!

tram nr 6 takes you to the city center (Domsheide) in 10 minutes for 2.20 euros. Next to the Town Hall (Rathaus) is the Christmas Market with 200 stalls selling mainly delicious food and sweets. Check this webpage, english is coming soon:

No, you can NOT buy tickets for a tram on a tram. Do NOT enter a tram, U-bahn or S-bahn without a valid ticket or you can be fined a large amount of money if caught for violating the honor system in use throughout Germany for public transportation.

Wow..... thanks. Feel like I've been told off.... So.....where do you buy them then? A desk at the airport?

You can buy tickets in the trams in Bremen.

At Bremen Airport there may be however also ticket machines at the tram stop.

A really good flash animation showing how this works in Bremen:

Please not that what marcopolko wrote is at least true for many other German cities if it comes to trams. And generally true for S-Bahn and regional trains.

I stand corrected for Bremen, but this doesn't sound right. How can the plain clothes ticket inspectors check people's tickets if they can purchase them when they know the inspectors are present and before they can check their tickets. All they would have to do is stand close to the ticket machine and if it's crowded, say they haven't had a chance to buy their ticket yet.
