Berlin - Grunewald..

It's some 36 years since we lived in Berlin (Kladow) and on a short visit for Xmas we would like to walk in the countryside....Spandau Forest, and the Grunewald - only of course If it's cold & dry.

What is considered the best route by public transport to either please?

One used to be able to make it to the edge of the Grunewald by U Bahn, but I guess one has to bus to get to the man made ski slopes? - Suggestions most welcome.

In years gone past sightseeing opportunities were very limited in the East of the City, what are considered " Must see" sights there today?

Thank you.

S-Bahn Berlin has flyers with suggested routes (and of course how you can go there by public transport).

Unlikely that there will be ski slopes at Christmas this winter. There is even no snow yet in the Alps.

Important sights in Berlin-Mitte (City Centre East)
