abalada is right there will be no customs

but there will be a security check on your flight home of course, but in Germany it is much more relaxed and faster then in the USA or UK.

When will you travel and wich will be your airport?

From Tegel TXL you will need 20 minutes to go by bus to Berlin Central Station

From Schoenefeld SXF you will need 30 minutes by train to central station.

On the 3rd of June 2012 the airports TXL and SXF will close and there will be only the the Airport "Berlin-Brandenburg-Willy-Brandt" BER wich is next to the old Schoenfeld Airport ,but will be better conected by public transport.

Till then EASYJET is flying to SXF

and AIRBERLIN is flying to TXL

...from CPH

You will have to check at the airlines webpages at what time you will have to be at the airport.

EASYJET is VERY strict with check-in, carry-on baggage and timetable!!!

and there is often a long wainting line at the check-in so you better be early or check-in online.

with both airlines you will have almost 12 hours in till your flight goes back

and when you take 30min for arriving, 60min for departing and 30 min for the train from or back the airport you may have about 9 hours for Berlin sightseeing, wich will be enough to see the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Kuhdamm and so on.

PS: Berlin has a good public transport system and the rates a lower then in other big german cities so it will be easy to get through the city with a day- or a group ticket.

We are trying to fly from Frankfurt to Berlin in August. We are finding a flight from Frankfurt to Berlin Tegel (TXL), but it should be closed by then. So, are we really buying a ticket to BER?

Either this or you're paying for a flight which won't take off.

You can travel from Frankfurt to Berlin as well by train. City center to city center not really slower (~ 4 hours). Specials start from EUR 49 for 2. You can buy train tickets at earliest 92 days before traveling.

DB timetable

Start: Frankfurt(Main)Hbf

Destination: Berlin Hbf
