Beer Hall Needed!

I'm going to Berlin for my stag weekend with 30 friends, we wanted a traditional German Beer hall where we could get some food as well, the guide book recommends Berliner Republik und Brokers Bierborse on Schiffbauerdamm, is this the best place or can anybody recommend something better?

There are many reasons for a trip to Berlin. But there are no beer halls there like in Bavaria.

There is no such thing like German beer or German food in Germany. There is e.g. Bavarian beer or Kölsch beer (in Cologne). Or Franconian or Thuringian sausages.

Of course the are places like e.g.

where you can get Bavarian beer and food.

This is however no less exotic than e.g. a Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin.

as abalada already said that you wont find many beer halls in Berlin, at least the ones everyone expects from Germany or knows from visits in Bavaria. I haven't been to Brokers or Berliner Republik so can't tell you what it's like.

The following might be interesting for you as well

Thanks guys, the reason I thought of a 'Beer hall' was becasue there are 30 of us and I thought they might be better equipped to cater for large groups.

I also wanted to know if Berlin has tour buses that allow you to see all the sights and hop on and off as and when you like?

If so where is the best place to get on?

There are quite a few operators who offer sightseeing tours and I think all of them allow you to hop on/off as much as you like.

Therea are also the public double decker bus lines 100 and 200 which connect many sights.

Covered by normal local public transport tickets (e.g. (mini group) day tickets).

But I don't think that hop on and off will work for a group of 30. Neither there nor with the private tour buses.

I would recommend to organize a walking tour for the group. Does not necessarily mean all is walking, but going by S-Bahn or U-Bahn is less a problem with 30 people (or even better 2 groups of 15).

Prater Garten is Berlin's oldest Beer Garden but is closed until April, I think. However, they also have indoor "dining" with some kind of beer hall atmosphere. Around that area you will find loads of bars, restaurants and pubs, just in case you don't like the Prater Garten. Highly recommended!

I can also recommend the Simon-Dach-Str. area with no beer hall but many bars (less pricey than Hackescher Markt which is also a good choice for an evening out).

The Prater is an excellent choice inside or outside. On a regular night you should find enough space for 30 in the beer garden but you would have a hard time with so many people inside.

Most berlin pubs and restaurants simply don't have that much space, especially the good ones...
