(1) It would cost around 20 EUR, but do consider taking a bus: there is a direct line, the TXL, from Tegel to Friedrichstrasse/Unter den Linden, which is about 500 m from the Hilton.

(2) Can't help you there, but cigarettes are notoriously expensive in Germany (maybe less though than in the UK)

(3) I would suggest for the first day to do a walking tour (I recommend Insider Tour insidertour.com/tours.php/…Berlin others here have recommended Berlin Walks (http://www.berlinwalks.de) and Brewer's Berlin (http://www.brewersberlin.com). And yes, I still recommend to avoid New Berlin's so-called "Free" tours.

Then, in the afternoon, something more relaxing, such as a museum, a river boat, or just sitting in a cafe (+ shopping).

In the second day, I would see important sites that I haven't seen the first day with the tour group (probably the important museums, such as the Pergamon, the Jewish Museum, the Egyptian Museum, etc.), and stroll around some neighbourhoods such as Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte.

Cigarettes are about £3 a packet, so much cheaper than UK
