This is a tough one. The immediate vicinity of this hotel is a train station and a large department store, and several other large stores (home centre, etc.). Between them there's a weekly market (not sure which days, I think on Fridays and Tuesdays) and an antique market. In other words, in the immediate vicinity there are no restaurants that people go especially to, but rather fast food/cafeteria for people going shopping or in the train station itself.

If you're interested, though, some of the best clubs in town are in the neighbourhood.

If you take the 240 bus (direction: Storkower Strasse) you can step out anywhere after Gruenberger Strasse (this is also within a walking distance) and there are plenty of restaurants and bars there.

If you take the 240 bus in the other direction, and step down in Karl Marx Allee/Straussberger Platz you can get to Haus Berlin, which is a nice German restaurant in an original "Stalinbau". This is also within a walking distance, only about 4 or 5 bus-stops from Ostbahnhof.

If you take the 140 bus and step down in Kottbusser Tor or just before that you will get to "Little Istanbul" with many Turkish restaurant and quite a few good bars.

If you walk towards Karl-Marx-Allee on the Strasse-der-Pariser-Kommune you will find

Sauerkraut und Bulgur (Strasse der Pariser Kommune 35), which has pretty good German food with fusion; there is also an Austrian restaurant on the crossroads of the two streets, I am not sure how good it is.

Cafe Sibylle, further on Karl-Marx-Allee (number 72) is a very nice.

However, one good thing about your hotel location and about Berlin is public transportation. From your hotel (or from Ostbahnhof) you can easily reach the Hackescher Markt area (which has lots of pubs and restaurants), the Alexanderplatz with the Nikolai Quarter (with many many authentic German restaurants). Public transport works in Berlin, especially to a central location like yours, all night long; and at the weekend, it is even better.
