Train from Munich to Rothenburg

Has anyone taken a German train route that gave only approx.5 minutes to switch trains? I'm a bit nervous since it will be my 1st train trip. With such a short time are the trains close to each other?

If Die Bahn website lists it as a connection, they think that it is doable. I have found them to be correct in our trips. You do need to be ready to exit the train when it pulls into the station. Know when you are due to arrive and start gathering your luggage, etc. and proceed to the door before the train stops. Other passengers will be doing the same.

If you miss your connection, trains from Treuchtlingen to Steinach to Rothenburg ob der Tauber run once an hour all day. Just catch the next train.

DB timetable knows about the station layouts. With a 5 minutes transfer its either a really small station or both trains stop at the same platform.

If this transfer is at Steinach(b Rothenb) where the branch line to Rothenburg starts: no risk at all. Nearly everybody exiting there will change for the train to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. You won't be forgotten. And as this is only a short hop and the train has a sufficient time buffer inRothenburg before starting traveling back, the train can also easily depart a few minutes later in Steinach.

We did this in reverse last month. No problem with the transfer time.
