Munich to Fussen on Sunday March 9th

I am from America and trying to book a train ticket from Munich to Fussen on March 9th.

On the www.bahn.de website, it states "Important information about this connection is currently available (e.g. connection is threatened, trip cancelled)." It shows this for every train on March 9th.

Here is the link:

reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query2.exe/en…

Does anyone have experience with this? Does it mean there are no trains on March 9th?

Thank you for your help.

There are construction works scheduled between Munich and Kaufering. On this stretch the trains will probably be substituted by buses - you'll have to recheck the connection shortly before travel date for the exact details.

I don't quite understand why you want to buy this ticket now. You cannot reserve a seat since the trains are all local trains. Regular fare is €25.50 one way. It will be the same price on the ninth of March. The cheaper Bayern Ticket (daypass) prices will be the same too. There's no real advantage at all to buying now. If buses are used in place of trains that day, you can still buy your ticket that morning from a ticket machine and get on the bus.

These are local trains, and as Russ so rightly pointed out, you don't need to book. Just buy the Bayern Ticket that morning from a ticket machine at Munich. It will cost you €22 plus €4 for each additional person up to a maximum of 5. So for €38 five of you can get to Fuessen and back. Being a Sunday the normal "after 9am" weekday restrictions don't apply, so you can leave Munich as early as you like. And the ticket is valid until 3am next morning.

It there are rail works, a replacement bus will take you part of the way, but regardless, your ticket is still valid and you will get there. Don't worry about this. It's just one of those things that you can't, and don't need to, book ahead of arriving.

Slightly different point: you CAN'T book.

There is no facility to book.

You should, however, reserve your Neuschwanstein tickets on line ahead of time. (I'm assuming that's why you are going to Fuessen.) You will need to pick up the tour tickets from the ticket center at least an hour before the tour itself.
