Fussen excursion and castle planning

We will be arriving in Fussen from Salzburg (via Munich on the train) probably around 2 or 3pm and staying overnight on Oct 13. We'll be going back to Munich on Oct 14 and have no plans in Munich except to check into a hotel.

We're assuming our best plan is to check into Fussen hotel and then go see the museum on Oct 13 and then return to Fussen for the evening. Get tickets for the castles on the 14th probably around 11:00am. On the 14th we'll take the bus back to the castles, see them both and then return to the train station for a train back to Munich.

Questions:

1) Does this plan make sense or should we try and do everything in one day (on the 14th)?

2) If we're doing everything on the 14th, what should we do on the 13th after we've arrived?

3) If I make reservations for 11:00 what time are we likely to be done seeing both castles?

4) Does my train pass (bayern) cover the bus trip from Fussen to Hohenschwangau?

Thanks

I haven't read any comments about this museum, but Fuessen itself has plenty to see and do. One of the streets in the old section was actually part of a Roman road. Here's a link to info about Fuessen. http://www.fuessen.de/244.0.html

The Bayern pass covers the bus from Fuessen to Hohenschwangau. When you make reservations on line, you'll be able to see approximately how long the tours last. Remember you have to pick up your tickets an hour before tour time, to allow you enough time to get to the top of the mountain.
