Oberammergau on your own or with a tour?

We're looking for advice, ideas and recommendations for going to the Oberammergau Pasion Play and visiting Germany, and other european places on our own or going with a tour.

That's really a matter of personal preference. If you want to have everything wll organized and circumscribed, take the tour. On the other hand, if you like to have some flexibility in your travels, you should consider doing your own thing, going by car and/or trains. Generally, travel in Germany/Austria/Switzerland is not very difficult, even if you don't speak the language(s).

Go back on this web site and read up on what others have written about their travels and the answers to the many queries. This will give you some idea on what you would enjoy.

I found this site that lists lots of tours for Oberammergau Passion Play, but they all look like they depart from the UK. Not sure if they do tour only and maybe you could join in directly in Munich?
