Beer and/or wine festivals

Greetings, I will be in the Rhine and Alsace region from sept 17-23. We do not want to go to Octoberfest in Munich as it is too large and too far away. Does anyone know of a website of festivals in small towns during that time in that general area. We will have a car!

wine and other festivals in Baden-Württemberg

There are e.g. wine festivals in Kappelrodeck, Gengenbach, Vogtsburg and Endingen at the Kaiserstuhl.

The historical festival in Staufen sounds also really interesting. Could be easily combined with the ones at the Kaiserstuhl.

That website that abalada has given for Baden-Wuerttemberg only has a small portion of the 6000 festivals and special events throughout the year for this German state. The best thing is to go into a bookstore there and buy a copy of Feste feiern in Baden-Württemberg EVENTS 2013 for 5.90€. Besides the events in this state, it also has some of the larger and better events in other nearby German states and also in nearby countries. The events are listed by date and then place.

From the end of August to the first weekend in November the world's largest pumpkin exhibition is in Ludwigsburg at the palace gardens. Almost a half million pumpkins and squash of over 450 varieties will be on display including Europe's largest behemoth pumpkins and squash. There are large themed sculptures made from these vegetables, and also food and drink (champagne) made from them. Coupled with the fairytale garden and the English language tour of the palace (the longest and best palace tours that I've been on in all of Europe) it makes for an unbeatable day. ( www.blueba.de only in German, there should also be some excellent photos from past years)

Zwiefelten should be having a beer festival in your time frame at the brewery opposite the beautiful baroque former abbey. www.historisches-bierfest.de There should also be several wine festivals throughout Baden-Wuerttemberg.
