Train from Munich to Strasborg via Stuttgart

We are looking at the train from Munich to Strasborg

It goes via Stuttgart and there is a change of train from D Bahn

to TGV. Arrives Stuttgart something like 11.47 and departs

11.54 Seems a very short time to change trains, we are early 60's

will be first timers in Germany and think this may be a problem for us.

Can anyone advise.

If your arriving train is on time, there should be no problem unless you are at the back end of a double train. To minimize the time needed for the transfer you should be one of the first at the train door with your luggage ready to depart before arrival at the station. Then just proceed to the front of the train and go to the new platform. If you are near the back of the arriving train, there may be steps to take you down to a tunnel that connects the platforms without having to go all the way to the front.

If you are really concerned about the connecting time, just take an earlier train to Stuttgart, which I would do anyways.

It's no bother. Both trains are calling side by side (tracks 9+10), using the same platform.

Yes, these trains are more or less syncronized with each other. Just get off and walk across platform.

BTW The German trains are failry well syncronized, there is little "mad dash." It is a relatively smooth and reliable system, quite convenient and useful.

Having just used DB (German Rail) extensively, its trains are excellent and mostly extremely punctual.

Connections are well organised: as the posters above suggest, sometimes it is a cross platform transfer: two trains on each side of the same island platform.

There are also side chutes of stairs which you can use to drag your luggage down, but many stations have lifts or escalators.
