Late night arrival via train

Due to some airport connections we will be arriving in Baden-Baden by train around 2300 or midnight. Is there safe reliable transport to our hotel (am Markt) at that hour? Is there a taxi stand at the train station or can we just call one?

You can take a bus from the station (Bahnhof) to Leopoldsplatz. From there it's a walk of approx. 300 meters.

As this route is served by 5 bus lines, you won't have to wail long.

Single ticket is EUR 1,50.

There is also a taxi stand at the station. You can just hop into one of the waiting taxi.

Baden-Baden is only on one aspect not safe: you can loose a lot of money if you play in the casino.

Wow. Clearly there is no need for me to worry! Thank you very much for the information, especially the bus service map. That will be useful when we get there too!

If you have to lug a heavy case around, I would advise to go by taxi. The hotel is uphill and there are either stairs or short, but steep cobbled streets to be climbed.

Taxi station-hotel is about € 15-20,--.

You can save about € 10,-- for the taxi, if you leave the bus at "Leopoldsplatz" and take a taxi from the casino to the hotel.

At bus stop Leopoldsplatz go to the tail of the bus, turn left into "Inselstrasse", there is a cab rank after 100 meters.

Thank you for the tips! Normally I would say lets just bus it all and haul the bags, but after a whole day of travel I think a taxi at least part of the way would be a better idea.

Hi AnamikaRaks,

I would also say to take a taxi as the steps up to the hotel are hard work, even without any cases. I stayed at the am Markt recently and it's excellent - just one thing and you probably did it already but make sure to advise them you will arrive late. It's a family run hotel and does not have a reception desk manned 24/7 like the chain hotels do.
