Where to stay in Vieux Lyon

Hello

How to find an accommodation more "Renaissance" in Vieux-Lyon ?

A lot of hotel in Lyon ? But no B&b, guest houses, vacation rentals ... few hotel in Vieux Lyon ....

Is Vieux-Lyon a dead place or so small that there is only one B&b ?

I used to travel in France visiting a lot of city smaller but I have a lot of choice.

Please help me !

You're right, the old city is not really an hotel district as it is not the most central one and it can be tricky to get into the narrow pedestrian streets. Moreover you will see that the Renaissance buildings are not the most convenient one to be converted into nice hotels (narrow buidings with windows that looks onto narrow streets or narrow courtyards). It is a very touristy area with a lot of touristy restaurants, but not a vibrant area and definitively not the area I would stay in to be in the middle of everything...

I can understand though that is is quite an experience for a Newyorker to stay in a 15th or 16th century building! If you want to stay there here are a few ideas (you did not mention any budget, so it is not easy to help!):

- There are 2 upscale hotels (La Cour des Loges and Villa Florentine), a boutique hotel (Hotel du Collège) and a budget hotel (Hotel Saint Paul)

- Yes there are a few B&B and vacation rentals, you will find them all using Lyon official website; Here are a few ideas:

As stated, it's difficult to find a hotel in Vieux Lyon, which by the way is not a bad location for the presque ile(a 15min stroll around nice areas) and most of the must see sights of the city, but if you stay there you'd be rewarded since the experience is something quite unique, keeping in mind that Vieux Lyon, is comes second only to Venice, as the area with the highest concentration of 15/16th century buildings. If you keep that in mind, and do'nt expect to find a chain like hotel there, then we would strongly suggest you stay at Cour des Loges, a complex of building in the heart of Vieux Lyon, combing original design with modern touches. It's pricey, but we can say that it's one of the most memorable hotels we have ever stayed at.

I visited all of them and choose http://www.latour-lyon.com and book there. I will never find such an apartment in any city in US.

I just come back home today after some weeks in France.

The best part of my vacations were the few days I spent in Lyon.

What a beautifull city, and Vieux were definitly the best place where to stay.

I recommand to stay in laTour-Lyon, so amazing, so different but so comfortable, so peacefull.

The guys who rent the apartment were so kind and had some good adresses of restaurant.
