4 london lads going to chamonix in late october

myself and 3 other mates are off to chamonix in october for a lads weekend getaway, we have no knowledge of the local area, what to expect, where to go, nothing. can anyone recommend or advise on the local night life, or anything 4 young(ish) lads would find appealing. Also any advice on transport to and from hotel/airport. we are staying at the best western Les Aiglons, so any info on that would be great. i have been looking at reviews but havent found any that really relate to us. so any info would be great

thanks in advance

The cheapest airport to hotel to airport will probably be Easybus. But be aware this is not a taxi service.

The run a scheduled service from Geneva Airport to Chamonix Bus Station. This is just across the road from your hotel.

If your plane is delayed and you miss your transfer you will then have to hope one of the other companies has room.

All will have a reduced schedule.

So, leave yourself AT LEAST 60mins between your scheduled arrival time and your transfer.

As to entertainment.

Most bars and restaurants will be open.

The Aguille du Midi cable car will be running during the day.

Chamonix in October isn't exactly Magaluf-ish, but bring your wellies anyway, you might end knee-deep in... Well, mud. ^^

It will be cold in late October already. Bring adequate clothes. If you don't hike it's gonna be a bit boring but since it's only two days, the telepherique up Aiguille du Midi could fill a day. I love hiking in October, the autumn light, the leaves, some waterfalls will be already frozen at 2000+ m elevation... but you may have ice on the trail in the morning, and snow at 2500+ m or even lower.

The hotel is right next to the Easybus bus stop.

I haven't seen the rooms but there is a nice pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. It is a 5 minute walk from town and rally close to the Aiguille de Midi lift.

Chamonix is pretty quiet in October but you will be in the Toussints holidays so there should be enough open to keep you busy for the weekend.for sight seeing there is the Aiguille de Midi, and the Montenvers train to the Mer de Glace. Often there are others lifts open during these holidays, check at the Tourist Office. The autumn colors are beautiful and given good weather it is a fantastic backdrop to whatever you choose to do.

Most bars and restaurants will be open. Several will be showing the Rugby if you are interested. Head to rue du Moulin in the evening. It may be fairly quiet compared to winter but we have had some great nights out inter-season. Look out for posters in the bar windows for any events at Amnesia or the Bunker.

The luge at Planards is worth a visit one afternoon. You get the chairlift up and come down in 'sledges' on rails. The bowling alley is next to your hotel. The ice rink can also be fun on a rainy day!
