Cheap-ish central Chamonix accomodation

Hi,

I'm looking for accomodation for 5 guys for a long weekend in March. We've stayed in Hotel d l'arve before, liked it, but its full. We've done a bunkhouse in the Clubhouse before too, but the prices there have gone sky high. The Oustalet is nice but again its got very expensive in recent year.

Any suggestions for places to stay that are in the centre of town (not 10/15mins walk), with adequate comfort, and preferably a wifi connection available (payable is fine). B&B or hotel with a bar would be ideal, Self catering would be considered. location-wise we really do want to be as near to the action as possible, which I realise pushes the cost up, so any ideas welcome!

Budget... don't want to go over 100E per night per person really.

Dates 21/3-25/3

Thanks!

Simon

From a google maps search, a few in the centre to consider:

Hotel Alpina www.bestmontblanc.com/en/alpina.html

Hotel Cretes Blanches www.cretes-blanches.com

Hotel Louvre www.hoteldulouvre.fr

Chalet Whymper www.bigfoot-travel.co.uk/accom_details.asp…

See all of the results here:

If you use Trip Advisor's hotel search feature you can narrow down the options by price and location:

Your best bet might be one of the large catered chalets although many may already be booked for Christmas. The tourist office in Chamonix have an online booking system for hotels that also shows availability:

Try hotel Hermitage Paccard. We stayed there for a week at Christmas 2010 and it was excellent. Small, friendly and cozy chalet style hotel in a quiet area but only 10 - 15 mins walk to centre of town.
