Esmeralda, I have never been to Marseille, so I cannot make any restaurant recommendations. You could go on the home page of Trip Advisor and find many recommendations.

Part of the fun of travel is finding unexpected places. Since I imagine you'll probably be making day trips from Marseille, I would imagine that you would want to try a restaurant in these other places.

Some ideas :

For lunches :

- Le Château, Calanque de Sormiou. On a sunny day, extraordinary. 20min from city centre, it looks like you are out of the civilization already. Book before and give your license plate to the restaurant. If you don't have a car, bus and then hike (30-45min)

- Le bistrot d'Edouard, Rue Jean Mermoz. In one of the nicest residential areas, a fantastic tapas bistro.

For dinners :

- La Cantinetta, cours Julien. great tiny wonderful atmosphere italian restaurant. Book

- Une table au sud, Vieux Port. Wonderful gastronomic. If you can afford it. Book

- La Villa, rue Jean Mermoz, excellent traditional brasserie with a nice garden. Book a table outside

- Pascal's Kitchen, the only upmarket restaurant on a popular Marseille beach. Trendy, good food. Book

- Chez Michel (plages des Catalans) : if you want to have a bouillabaisse, it is the place. Traditional. Quite expensive. Book

- Chez Fonfon, vallon des Auffes. Fantastic location in the post card view of Marseilles. Good fish, prices a bit high. Book a table with a view

- Mama Shelter Hotel : for the bar, but also the restaurant. Trendy vibey hotel.

Two weeks, well done - that should give you enough time to get to know the place. It always seems a pity when people try to cram everything into only one or two days.

There is no shortage of sites that will give you suggestions of where to eat - here are some (in English) by people who live there:

I don't know about breakfasts but you should not have a problem finding other meals. Like benjinho13 suggests, if you have two weeks to explore try looking at a few places that are out of central Marseille. Even if you don't have a car, you will find that the Marseille public transport network (RTM) will take you quite some distance.

My suggestion would be to make yourself a picnic and go for a walk in the hills behind Marseille (or to one of the calanques) and have a meal in the open air under the Mediterranean sun.

Enjoy your stay.
