hi, can anyone tell me the cheapest way to do this journey please
what time /date do you arrive?
how many people?
do you have a lot of luggage?
The most convenient option by public transport, though not quite the cheapest, is express bus 3003 from Nice Airport (stops at both terminals) to St Raphael bus station (€15), followed by regular bus 7601 from St Raphael to Ste Maxime (€2). The timetables are here:
From Nice to St Raphael, the train is marginally cheaper than the bus, but you have to get yourself to a station (either the small St Augustin station close to the airport or the main Nice Ville station in the middle of town). There is advice about this and links to train timetables on the Nice Airport website here:
There is also advice elsewhere on this forum if you'd like to try a search, including with regard to getting to St Augustin which is fine during the day but can make people feel uncomfortable as night falls.
In any case, the train is really only worth considering if timetable considerations rule out the bus. As you'll see the last bus from the Airport (dep 1930) is scheduled to arrive at St Raphael at 2035. That allows only 5 minutes to catch the last bus to Ste Maxime, and is perhaps too tight for comfort. If you do have to take the train, St Raphael bus station is right next to the railway station, but at the rear entrance.
The last practical train departures are 1801 from St Augustin and 1855 from Nice-Ville. If you're later than that, you will probably need somewhere to stay overnight - a taxi will cost at least a couple of hundred Euros and the Ibis Budget (ex-Etap) close to the Airport will be a lot cheaper than that. Or you could take a look at www.sleepinginairports.net...
Thats really useful thanks. We land in Nice at 10.35am so thought we might get a train to St Raphael, then a bus from St Raphael to Port Grimauld, to get there just after lunch. Is that possible?
Train is more bother than it's worth on those timings.
Take Bus 3003 from Nice Airport at 1230, arrive St Raphael bus station 1335. The fare is €15 per person. Buy tickets from the bus ticket office just by where the bus stops at Terminals 1 or 2.
Take Bus 7601 from St Raph bus station (final desination St Tropez) at 1340, arrive 1445. The fare is €2 per person; pay the driver. There's another bus 7601 from St Raph at 1500 if you get delayed for any reason.
Hi I have the same question please because we land at midnight and the car hire closes at midnight?
We are 2 adults and 3 children with luggage going to St Maxime.
could you tell me where you got those times from? can't find any timetables only
I land in nice airport august 6 14.50 - can I take the bus to the camping site prairer de la mer in St Marxime/Port Gremaude ?
Just a word on inflation. Bus 3003 from Nice Airport to Saint-Raphael now costs 20 euros.
Would it be easier to get to St. Tropez from Marseille Airport or from Nice Airport if one had a choice of airports. Would the ground transport costs be different?
