Hi, my husband has difficulty because he loves beer, and it is not cheap. Corner stores may be your answer to beer and meals! You will have no problem locating a place to eat for a crowd- if you don't stay to eat at Ma Nolan's that is- their food is filling enough. What you are looking for to eat as there's mediterranean, sea food and italian, and there's no really cheap. Walk into Vieux Nice from Cours Saleya -away from the ocean to a square/place, and you'll find a good sized pedestrian area which has restaurants with tables outside, and big ice cream shop called Fenocchio's, it is bustling with crowds late into the night,as is the Place du Palais-good people watching. As you probably already know, all prices have to be posted to be seen on the outside, so you can look before you decide.

I hope this isn't the start of as new trend and a new 'type' of traveller'. Nice and the surrounding area is for the refined, rose drinker, is it not?

There are pockets of lager drinkers. The Aussie yachties who inhabit Le Blue Lady in Antibes have possibly never tasted the local product.

Budget around 6 Euros plus for a pint of lager .

Better deals during happy hour at places like Ma Nolans and it is much much cheaper in the local supermarkets.

As mentioned above, the good value drink in France, is wine
