Is there a ferry system from Nice to Italy?

Traveling with family in September to Italy, but landing in Nice. Is there a ferry connecting Nice to any of the major towns on the west side of the Italia Riviera? mainly San Remo, Imperia, or Savona?

No ferry

there is a coach from the airport

…aeroport.fr/var/anca/storage/original/appli…

or you can take a train changing in ventimiglia

Ferries are slow and inefficient. No commercial ferry ever runs parallel with a coast, as it could not compete with land transport.

I believe it is possible to take a ferry from Nice to Corsica, and another ferry from there to Genoa, but that would be a very indirect journey.

I would disagree with the idea that a ferry running essentially parallel to the coast cannot compete with land transport- eg the ferry from st raphael to st tropez

It is 3 hours 13 mins to genoa by train Nice-genoa changing in ventimiglia - it is now 5 hours minimum now to corsica from Nice by ferry since the demise of the NGV

The bus company's website is here http://www.volpibus.com/orari.asp/l/50 - online reservation is available, but only if you can handle the Italian.

Note that there are only two departures a day, and only one after September 4.

Train connections run throughout the day until the evening. End-to-end journey times are similar to the bus despite the transfers, and the overall fare is slightly cheaper to Genoa and considerably cheaper to nearby destinations such as San Remo, as the bus has a flat fare.
