Parking in Nice

Can anyone advise how to get reasonable parking for a month in Nice? This could either be free parking on the outskirts or contract with central car park. We shall be staying in rue Massena in pedestrian area of central Nice.

1. Re: Parking in Nice

The centre of Nice was largely planned and built before the arrival of the automobiles. Adding to the scarcity of parking places are 1) the largely alluvial underground, at more or less sea level and the continous increase of the number of cars. At a yearly basis, you can rent a parking place in the centre at some 150 Euro per month. If this level is attainable also short-term, for one month only, is more than I know. Practically, you can forget about free parking. Not that such places are not available, because they are, but because they tend to be taken by long-timers. One the other hand, France is Old Europe. Public means of transportation are abundant and excellent. Nice is the hub in the county-wide bus line system. The main bus terminal is across the street from Place Massena. In the city centre, there are also car rental agencies where you can park a car leased from them at no extra cost. LUTAM is one of them. Consider to refrain from a car all the time. In a covered centre parking, the fee is something like 1 Euro per hour, 24/7.
