La Baume - La Palmeraie

Hi

We are thinking of visiting La Baume in June this year - can you use the facilities of both sites whichever you stay on or are you restricted to one or other.

Thanks alot

Dan

The two areas run into each other and the main facilities are on the Baume side with one large pool, the reataurant, gym and a bar on the Palmeraie side. You are free to go where and when you want it's all part of the service, site etc.

Yes Baume takes some beating but it does depend on what you are looking for. If you want a small intimate and quiet site then this may not be for you. If you want a great site with excellent facilities including many swimming pools including an indoor one with steam room and entertainment daily then this site would surely fit the bill. Many people go back year after year. and if you have children then you may have trouble getting them off site. If you are going in June then that's a good time before campsites are packed to the gills and the weather will be hot, it excelerates in temperature around mid June. Baume is in what was formerly a pine forest and there are still plenty ofpine trees to help with shade when the days are very hot.

Just a thought, why don't you phone the campsite or email them and ask for a brochure they have a really good one that shows you all the facilities etc. They do speak very good english. Have a great holiday whatever you decide.

Thanks ever so much Rosie for your advice - really appreciated.

Our last dilemna is the choice between a tent (for cheapness and experience) or a mobile home? Any advice? Are the toilet blocks clean?

Thanks again

Yes the toilet blocks are clean and the central one even has a huge palm tree in the centre of it. Two of the largee blocks were new 2 years ago. The campsite have their own mobile homes to let, try looking at their website.

We have stayed at La Baume four times now over a period of 15 years camping with the family. It's a fantastic site - all our kids rate it as the best one. (Our eldest is now 28 and would still go back!) It's very well run, has very good facilities, the security is good and the kids are encouraged to join in with all the pool games/ football/entertainment that is laid on for them.

It only takes 5 min by car to get into the centre of Frejus which is a lovely town. Every evening there are stalls right along the front selling crafts etc. Lots of nearby places to visit - St. Tropez/Cannes/Nice/Grasse/The Gorge - the list is endless. You will have a great time.

I can also support the other posts. The two sites are literally one big site and you will struggle to know which side you are in as there is no real separation. Everyone mingles between the two and you will quickly settle on which pool area is best for your family.

Hope you have a great time. There are lots of previous posts about La Baume/La Palmeraie and it is a good base for touring the area or even just staying on site (most suited if you have very young children).

Hi all

For accommodation on La Baume nr Frejus have a look at www.YourFrenchHoliday.com.

Also, have a look at eurocamp's website as they have a video of la baume on their site which gives a very clear and honest view of what is at the site
