How crowded does Eze get in late July

We'll be visiting mid afternoon, is it the kind of thing where you won't be able to walk down a street without someone else passing by or is it still tranquil? Also how long do the tour buses usually stay for and at what time?

Eze is far from tranquil in July! Eze is a mixture of differing lanes and streets but a lot of it is windy narrow passages and staircases that will be jammed and will be tough to navigate.

But....it is a magnificent place and absolutely worth a visit.

Afternoon is best if you can - most bus tours come in the morning ( same with St Paul de Vence). Pay 6 euro to enter the Botanic Garden at the top - not everyone does - this is the really incredible view and will be less busy.

Tours are in Eze all day but they whizz past like creatures living on a different timlescale. They stick to the main alleys and are mainly found around the perfume factories. Some tours never leave the perfume factory car parks.

Even in winter, you can't walk down a street without someone passing.

But it's a lovely place to be, year round, and you won't be actually in a crush in July unless you are competing with the coach parties for bargains in the perfume outlets. Come later in the afternoon if you can.

It won't be tranquil. You will feel squeezed going in and out of Eze village, as summer crowds share the single entrance to the perched pedestrian part of the village and then all make their winding way up the narrow cobblestone streets.

However... you can still enjoy Eze greatly in mid-afternoon in mid-summer !

Escape the crowded shops and make your way to the top. After a bit of climbing, you can soak in the views of the Med, surrounded by bright exotic plants at the Botanical Gardens of Eze. I've never really felt crowded there, as most people don't bother with the full climb. Note that there's a 6€ fee to enter these gardens, but the open panoramic views are worth it.

Then head back down a few steps for a sip at one of the terraced cafés, if you can find a spot.
