We will be in Cannes during Lions... should we worry?

Hi all.

My wife and I will be in Cannes from June 11 to 16 and are worried about Lions that starts on the 15th. We've managed to find a nice condo that wasn't booked, but we're wondering about crowds in streets, beaches, restaurants, nightlife, etc.

Should we worry about the last 2 days? Anything tips from DE's and locals?

Thanks!

Cannes is the 3rd largest convention centre in Europe, after London and Paris so there are always people in suits with badges walking around. It will be nothing compared to the Film Festival in May. Just a better class of tourist.

Aeromotive

Glad to hear you've found a nice apartment, assuming it's central you won't fail to notice the preparations for Lions when you arrive.

There will be plenty of white tents going up, and banners and displays at the large hotels ,the immediate area round the Palais will be cordoned off to unauthorised foot traffic quite early

This shouldn't affect you and can be quite fun to observe

As the start of the conference looms, the public beach near the Palais normally is commandeered for conference use and diminishes in size - however there are plenty more beaches public and private to use. Some of the private beach restaurants will be taken over for private events and parties once Lions gets going.

It is usually quieter on the Plages du Midi or at Palm Beach which are not so close to the Palais.

The Isles de Lerins won't be affected

From 15th restaurants, bars shops and nightlife will get much busier , particularly close to the Croisette and old port. Doubt there will be too many suits as the weather is usually great and Lions is fairly casual :))

Away from the Croisette, it will still be possible not to notice a conference is happening, but if you have a particular restaurant that you want to go to, book in advance on your last two nights

Don't worry, just enjoy
