Cannes, Nice, Eze, and Monte Carlo in 6 hours?

Our ship docks in Cannes from only 7:00 am-2:00 pm and we really want to see Cannes, Nice, Eze, and tour the castle in Monte Carlo. Will this be possible in less than 7 hours and if so, what would be the best way to accomplish all of this? Should we rent a car, take the train or bus? Do the trains and buses stop at each of these places along the way?

You could perhaps see Nice and Eze without taking the chance of missing your ship, certainly not more than two out of the four.

You could travel to and tour Nice and then Cannes before reboarding your ship. The rest will need to wait until your return trip to the South of France.

While you might be able to get a drive-by half day tour to see some of the area e.g. ....

... you would not be advised to go as far as Monte Carlo in the window you have - around 3 hours travelling there and back ,walking to station and buying tickets. You then need a minimum of two hours to see the Palace. This not allowing for delays and cancellations.

The train goes along the coast but does not call at Eze Village which is high above the Mediterranean and you must change to a bus in Nice and the stop is not near the train station. So I would rule that out.

Best you could do would be train there and back to Nice - a 45 mins journey each way. or think about visiting very picturesque Antibes - only 15 minutes away from Cannes by train - or a bus trip there as an alternative.

Sadly only a drive-by half day tour such as the one Ed mentions will get you to all the places that you desire in such a short time frame

Renting a car is time consuming and you will have parking problems in the main towns if you are visiting in high season.

Travel by train is fastest

I would suggest that you pick just one other place from your list

Monaco

Allowing for time to get to and from your ship by tender in Cannes, the one hour each way train journey to Monaco, plus time for train delays and ticket purchases/ getting lost etc, you may have about 2 and a half hours at best to look round there

So it would also be possible to take a coastal train from Cannes to Monaco and back , but you won't see Eze village, or have time to stop in Nice but there is good scenery en route and you will pass through Antibes, Nice and Villefranche on the way

Nice

You could choose to visit Nice instead. Again you will have around 2 and a half hours there by the time you get from Nice ville train station to Nice old town and back

Antibes

Antibes and Cannes would make a more leisurely combination and would allow 3 hours in Antibes and the remainder in Cannes, including time for a nice lunch.

The local bus 200 is an alternative to the train because of Antibes' proximity to Cannes

Or you could just spend the half day relaxing and enjoying Cannes and perhaps take a ferry out to one of the Isles de Lerins in the bay

Hope this helps

Remember, a 7:00 AM docking does not usually get you off the ship before 8:00 or 8:30. If you are taking a tender, you'll need time to account for that, both getting onto shore and back to the ship before 2:00. Antibes would be the only viable possibility if you want to explore and enjoy rather than a drive-by experience. Cannes is a lovely town with lots to see and do as is Antibes (A very nice Picasso museum there)

Thank you all for your information. I think we will plan to visit Cannes and perhaps one other location on this trip. Just can't decide whether to go to Nice or Antibes, since Monte Carlo is probably too far for this short trip.

I'd agree, go for Nice as well as Cannes (although personally I'd say skip Cannes and see Nice and Eze).

or...Nice and Villfranche...take the bus from Nice to Villfranche for the views and get the train back.
