Cannes to Grasse...Train???

We will be arriving in Cannes via cruise ship in July. The ship excursions are pretty expensive as are private tour guides.

My daughter and sister want to create their own perfume, while the rest of us want to enjoy the sights. I thought if we go to Grasse and then wander around Cannes that we could make everyone happy. What do you think???

I've done some seaching around and it looks like there is a train that runs from Cannes to Grasse. I'm a little nervous about exploring on our own and being able to figure things out and communicate. For starters finding the train station.

If anyone has any experience with this route, or any suggestions at all I would appreciate them.

Thanks!!!

This plan is a zero risk no brainer. The Cannes train station is bang in the centre a couple of blocks up from the sea front, around ten minutes walk from the port. To buy a train ticket requires minimal linguistic skills - queue at ticket desk - "x billets, Cannes - Grasse, aller y retour" Thats it, hand over the money, job done.

Trains are fairly frequent, platforms well signposted. Grasse is quite small, the perfume houses are impossible to miss, nip into Molliianard or whoever and mix your smellies, pay, look about and head home.

Cannes is quite compact, choose somewhere to sit and buy a drink, and experience your wallet being removed without surgery. Smile and ask for "l'addition" - choke - and pay up - hey, youre on holiday. Welcome to Cannes and the French Riviera.

Cheers!
