Question - Les Milles

As I was researching for a trip in October I came across a couple of references about Les Milles, a tranfer concentration camp during WW2. I am a WW2 history buff and am wondeing if this would be a stop for us during the trip - We will be staying in Aix. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it

Thanks

Aix les Milles (now an industrial area, airoprt ,technopole) was indeed a camp were many artists (like Max Ernst) were detained during WWII

I can’t find anything in english (a decent numbers of articles in in french, some in german)

If you read a bit french (or use a translation tool) :

campdesmilles.org/index_fichiers/campdesmill… ( there is an english version but it doesn’t seem to work)

…orange.fr/d-d.natanson/artistes_milles.htm

Someone has recently received a huge grant to convert the site (the bricks factory and the small wagon/museum) into a large memorial site. You can ask the mairie for more information.
