Boullibaisse in Marseille

Hi,

Has anyone had a great Bouillabaisse in Marseille, any restaurant suggestion would be much appreciated. Do you have to book ahead of time.

You should book ahead. Many restaurants want at least 24 hours' notice. Madie les Galinettes on the Old Port is also well-regarded, though I haven't eaten there personally. Don't be tempted to go for a cheapie in one of the many cut-price restaurants -- it's very much a question of getting what you pay for. Tried Les Galinette. Booked reservation 48 hrs in advance for bouillabaisse. Food looked good, unfortunately, we were not able to try it because we were never served. We were seated however staff did not appear to be aware of the reservation. Staff rude, running around all over the place. The only good service we got was from a young boy who had a nice smile and refilled our water glasses a couple of times.

Valuable feedback -- thank you. It may be that you hit a particularly frantic day --- though, as you'd booked ahead, that should not have been an issue. The fact seems to be that, though I'm always asking local friends about it, there is no really stand-out spot for bouillabaisse on the Old Port. :-(
