Travel to Honfleur

What is the best way to get to Honfleur from Middlesex, UK in August - fly & train or fly & bus as there is no airport in Honfleur?

Actually, there is an airfield at Deauville - although it is a small and 'private' one. However, if you know a local 'Biggles' he might be able to take you there on a jolly jaunt eh wot??

Seriously though, have you thought about taking a ferry to Le Havre (LD Lines from Portsmouth) and then a bus or taxi to Honfleur??

I second the suggestion of the ferry, unless you happen to have access to a nice seaworthy sailboat, that is...

Besides not having an airport, Honfleur also lacks a train station. If you wanted to get there by train from the Home counties you'd have to travel by Eurostar to Paris, then to Le Havre and finally by bus or taxi for the last bit.

Dear Essex Wanderer and IrishRiver

Many thanks for your advice. However, the LD ferry fhas just gone up to £90 per person for foot passengers - it wa about £30 earlier in the week.

I think we will have to go somewhere else.

Thanks again, Ginny.Again

Starting up on 24th June is a regular flight from London City Airport to Deauville by Cityjet, a subsidiary of Airfrance. Flights are Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and prices start at £59 one way.
