Cadaques to Collioure by car

We will be visiting Figueres, then Cadaques. From there to Collioure by car. The map shows a "curvy" road. Anyone driven it who can describe the trip?

Yes, it is very winding especially the 5 km from the main road down to Cadaques and the coast road from Port Bou to Collioure. But it is a very scenic drive and the views are stunning.

From Figueres to the road leading to Cadaques it is a very easy drive.

Not in the least difficult - as long as the driver keeps eyes on the road.!

We have covered this route several times and, as said above, it is windy in parts.

But there are a number of stopping points to take photos and admire the views. Some of my favourites are between Port Bou and Collioure.

Hope you have a beautiful clear and sunny day to enjoy this beautiful coast.

I drove this route a long time ago. I only remember it being beautiful and slow (in that it took me longer than I thought as I hadn't anticipated it being so curvy), but I don't remember finding it difficult. It is a distant but pleasant memory.

Yes it is 'curvy', in places very curvy. There are also some step gradients. It is also very scenic for the whole distance. I try to do this road every time I am in the area as it is one of my favourites, combining driving experience with good scenery as the Pyrenees Mts meet the sea on the Cote Vermeille.

You don't say when you are going. The 6 to 8 week peak season can mean you are in traffic if you are unlucky and get behind a slow vehicle which will back up a stream of following cars. The rest of the year I've found the road is usually very enjoyable to drive.

About half way is Port Bou set in a narrow bay protected by cliffs, which now has improved parking. There are a couple of decent restaurants for lunch on the promenade overlooking the beach.

The road has been much improved over the last 30 years and is now easy to drive but slow.

You can get an idea by following it with google street view : http://goo.gl/maps/3lWqe
